Chaar Sahibzaade is a Punjabi children’s movie, released on 31 August 2014 and directed by Harry Bhatti. The film is based on the story of four epic Sikh warriors: Tegh Bahadur, Baba Deep Singh, Guru Gobind Singh and Bhagat Puran Singh. It is rated PG-13 for thematic elements and violence. It stars Amrinder Gill as the lead actor with the rest of the cast played by Johnny Lever (Guru Gobind Singh), Rahul Dev (Baba Deep Singh) and Jasbir Jassi (Tegh Bahadur). The movie also stars Reema Lamba as the voice of Bhagat Puran Singh. The release was of more than 750 screens in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. The film tells the story of four Sikh warriors who refuse to be dictated on by anyone else on the basis of religion. Tegh Bahadur (Amrinder Gill) is a young man living in a small town resigned to his fate as a farmer. He falls in love with Meenu (Reema Lamba), daughter of Dogra (Vinod Khanna) and Jai (Aftab Alam). Meenu is the only child of Jai and she is also married to Pancham (Kiran Kumar), who is a singer. Tegh Bahadur wants to marry Meenu but her father refuses because Tegh Bahadur is a farmer. The story follows Tegh Bahadur, Baba Deep Singh (Johnny Lever), Guru Gobind Singh (Rahul Dev) and Bhagat Puran Singh (Jasbir Jassi) as they fight for their beliefs in an era when religious bigotry was the norm. They face obstacles along the way, which include assassinations, political conspiracies, court cases and much more. The film was released on 31 August 2014. It had received an average response from the audience. The film collected around 2.1 Crore in its opening weekend. On 23 September 2014, the film ran into trouble with the Punjab government's cultural affairs department, which invited complaints of 'distortion of Sikh history' by 'manufacturing an exaggerated sense of patriotism.' A complaint was written to Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal by leaders of the Sikhs including Captain Amarinder Singh who said they were concerned about how it portrayed Sikh history “as a story about four brave soldiers defending their faith against terrorism” rather than them being committed only to defending their faith. The film received awards and nominations at different categories.The Music is composed by Ammy Virk and lyrics are penned by Gurdas Maan, Jaswinder Singh, Vicky Nanjiani and DJ Chetu.On 1 May 2014, the movie released with a set of Punjabi songs with choreography of Ram Madhok.
